Making a difference, one bread tag at a time!

De Hoek Country Hotel launched the Bread tags-for-Wheelchairs campaign earlier this year and have been inundated with residents from all over South Africa who wants to contribute to the cause. One such resident is Kaylee Jones, a 19 year old young lady from Duxberry in Sandton.

This young lady has raised funds from her local community and with the help of her mom, Gabbi, has bought 2 wheelchairs and delivered them to De Hoek Country Hotel on Friday 22 September. General Manager, Gavin Ferreira, was thrilled to have 2 wheelchairs donated to a needy child in our community.

The team at De Hoek is incredibly proud of Kaylee and the initiative she has started and wants to encourage her to keep on collecting more. Kaylee says she would like to do more and this campaign has inspired her to collect more bread tags and ultimately making a difference in someone’s life.

De Hoek Country Hotel, in collaboration with the Bekker Primary School, Magaliesburg and the Impala Rissies Wheelchair Rugby Club, has launched a massive drive to collect as many bread tags as possible to provide wheelchairs to those in need.

Having a wheelchair gives the recipient independence and mobility and this makes a big difference to their families as well. You too, can make a difference to the lives of people who are in need of a wheelchair.

Save your bread tags and get your families and friends to do so too – De Hoek will be awarding a wonderful prize for the grade that collects the most tags. You too, can make a difference to the lives of people who are in need of a wheelchair, by saving your bread tags and encouraging your families and friends to do the same; and if you are a learner there is a prize to be won for the Grade that collects the most tags. “Our close neighbour, Maropeng, has been really generous by giving us an amazing prize for the bread tags campaign”, says Angelique, “the Grade that collects the most bread tags will win a night at Maropeng, staying at Hominin House, and includes a stargazing lecture with astronomer Vincent Nettman.” All collected tags can be dropped off at the collection point at the De Hoek Country Hotel. There will also be collection points in Sandton; please contact Angelique van der Merwe – for details.
